Narrative

Second to portraits, narrative paintings are my favorite. For many artists working prior to photography, these paintings were designed to document a moment in history or convey an important message that the painter was contracted to convey. Because many of the symbolisms used by early artists are no longer in common use, I enjoy viewing these works to try to understand the storyline.

As a painter in the modern era, I consider myself lucky to have the luxury to tell my own story! I often incorporate historical symbols to try to convey a modern message. See if you can see what I’m trying to say.
